About Samantha – Christian Postpartum Doula

Hi, I’m Samantha! I’m a faith-based postpartum doula serving Spartanburg County and the surrounding areas. While my roots began in birth work, God has led me into a season focused on postpartum, where I can pour into families during those tender first weeks with presence, prayer, and practical support.

My journey into birth work began after my own homebirth in 2017, which opened my eyes to the beauty of what birth can be when a woman feels supported and empowered. Later, difficult experiences with my fifth birth, including a cesarean and postpartum complications, shaped my heart for this calling. Through my healing and reflection, I felt God calling me to walk alongside mothers as they navigate the early weeks of motherhood with peace and confidence.

Now, I help families slow down, rest, and truly embrace those sacred early moments. Whether that means extra hands for laundry, nourishing meals, or simply a listening ear, I believe postpartum care should be tender, faith-centered, and deeply personal.

Meet the Heart Behind Southern Grace Doula

I’m a Christian wife and mama of five, with four sweet angel babies in heaven. I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart since 2008, and we’ve made South Carolina home since 2011.

After years of homeschooling, God has brought our family into a new season with our kids in school. It’s given me space to rest, reflect, and rediscover the little things that bring me joy, like coffee, books, and the quiet moments He uses to remind me who I am beyond motherhood. I believe this same rediscovery is something every mom deserves postpartum too.

My Heart for Postpartum Families

Motherhood is sacred, but it can also feel overwhelming. My mission is to remind women that they were created for this: that God designed our bodies and hearts to nurture and care for our babies, but we were never meant to do it alone.

Through Southern Grace Doula, I offer a safe, faith-filled space for new mothers to rest, recover, and reconnect with themselves and their babies. Every family deserves gentle, grace-led support that nourishes both body and spirit.

Why I’m Here for You

I know firsthand how overwhelming the postpartum weeks can feel; your body is healing, your emotions are shifting, and you’re learning your baby while trying to find your footing again.

My role is to help lighten that load through practical support, gentle reassurance, and a listening ear. Whether that means helping with newborn care, meal prep, rest, or simply reminding you that you’re doing enough, my heart is to create a peaceful space where you can slow down, breathe, and find joy in the small moments.

Every family deserves a nurturing start, and I would be honored to walk beside you as you settle into this new chapter.

The Birth Experiences That Shaped My Calling

My five unique birth experiences shaped not only my motherhood but also my heart for postpartum care. Each one reminded me that no matter how a baby enters the world, every mother deserves compassionate support, space to heal, and someone to walk beside her in the days that follow.

Birth 1: Learning to Trust Myself – At 19, I became a mother for the first time. I didn’t know how to advocate for myself, and I followed my medical team’s advice without question, which led to an induction at 37 weeks for possible preeclampsia. Despite this, I birthed my baby naturally within 8 hours, reminding me how important it is to trust in my body’s ability and intuition.

Birth 2: Precipitous Labor and Trusting My Instincts – My second birth was fast and unexpected. After an NST showed no signs of labor, I went home, only to start feeling cramps that rapidly progressed into intense contractions. My body knew what to do, and in just over two hours, I was holding my healthy baby in my arms.

Birth 3: The Homebirth That Sparked My Calling – This birth was the turning point in my journey. Despite previous miscarriages, I chose to have a homebirth with a midwife. While the pregnancy was smooth, things took a turn during labor when we discovered that my baby was in a breech position. Due to regulations, midwives in my area aren’t allowed to deliver breech babies, so my midwife quickly called emergency services. However, my baby came into the world before they arrived! It was an unexpected turn of events, but it was also a moment of empowerment, as I was able to deliver my baby without complications. It solidified my calling to support others in this sacred space. Though my midwife couldn’t legally deliver a breech baby, she expertly coordinated with emergency services and provided unwavering support, making this birth unforgettable.

Birth 4: A Birth Center Experience – My fourth birth took place at a birth center with nurse midwives. While I was able to have a water birth, I felt the tension and stress of a potential transfer, and it wasn’t as peaceful as I had hoped. I now understand how important it is for mothers to feel calm and fully supported during labor, and that every birth experience, no matter how planned, can have its own challenges.

Birth 5: The Birth That Led Me to Doula Work – My fifth birth was a traumatic experience that forever changed me. I experienced complications that led to a cesarean, followed by a difficult postpartum recovery with postpartum preeclampsia and emotional struggles. It was a dark time, but through prayer and reflection, I realized that I wanted to help other women avoid the isolation I felt during my recovery. This experience was the catalyst for my decision to become a doula, and I now dedicate my life to providing the compassionate support I wish I had during my own journey.

“A baby is something you carry inside you for nine months, in your arms for three years, and in your heart until the day you die.”

— Mary Mason

“I really appreciated the postpartum visit and our visits during pregnancy as well. If you are thinking about having help at your birth, Samantha is a great listener, a hard worker, a helpful set of hands, and a caring heart. She will one hundred percent do her best to support you as you bring your precious baby into this world. She is a blessing to all, and her presence is a hug. Thank you, Samantha, for loving our family very well.” -Annabeth I.

GET TO KNOW ME

When I’m not supporting mamas, you’ll usually find me with a good book in hand, sipping coffee at a local café, or spending time with my husband and our five kids. Life looks a little different now that our kids are in school, and we’re learning to rediscover who we are in this new season — one coffee at a time.

I still believe in slow mornings, cozy family moments, and finding beauty in ordinary days.
