🌼 Postpartum Support Questions

Here are some of the most common questions families ask about postpartum doula care and what to expect in those tender first weeks after birth.

What is a postpartum doula?

A postpartum doula provides emotional, physical, and informational support for families after birth. I offer gentle guidance as you rest, heal, and adjust to life with your new baby. My care includes light household help, newborn and feeding support, and space for you to process your birth experience with someone who truly listens.

Can you help with breastfeeding or bottle feeding?

I’m not an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), so I’m not able to diagnose or treat specific feeding challenges. What I can offer is gentle guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear as you navigate feeding your baby — whether that’s breastfeeding, pumping, or bottle-feeding. If something comes up that’s beyond my scope, I’ll gladly refer you to a trusted IBCLC so you feel supported every step of the way.

How soon should I book postpartum care?

Ideally, you’ll book during pregnancy so we can plan your care before baby arrives, but I also take families as space allows. Even if your baby is already here, reach out — it’s never too late for support.

What can I expect from postpartum visits?

Each visit is shaped around your family’s needs. I might fold laundry, prepare a nourishing meal, hold your baby so you can shower or nap, or simply sit and listen while you process your birth. My goal is to bring calm, steady support into your home so you can focus on recovery, bonding, and rest.

Do you offer overnight care?

Yes! Overnight care allows you to get a stretch of rest while I tend to baby’s needs. I can help with feedings, diaper changes, soothing, and keeping notes on baby’s patterns through the night so you wake feeling refreshed and cared for.

What makes your care faith-based?

My faith guides everything I do. While my roots began in birth work, God has led me into a season focused on postpartum, where I can pour into families with prayer, presence, and practical help. My care meets you where you are — grounded in grace and centered on peace.

What areas do you serve?

I serve families in Spartanburg County, South Carolina and surrounding areas.

How long does postpartum support last?

Most families receive care within the first six weeks, but some extend services through the fourth month. We’ll create a plan that fits your needs and budget.

Do you offer support for cesarean recovery?

Absolutely. Recovery after a cesarean requires special care, and I’m honored to support you through it. I can assist with mobility, baby care, meal prep, and emotional support as you heal and adjust.

How can I manage postpartum pain?

Managing postpartum pain can be done through pain medication, cold or heat therapy, gentle exercise, and getting adequate rest. Talk to your healthcare provider about your pain management options, and be sure to take any medication as directed. Applying a cold pack or warm compress to the affected area, gentle exercise, and getting plenty of rest can also help alleviate pain and promote healing.

Can my partner be involved during visits?

Of course. My care extends to your whole family. I love helping partners feel confident in their new roles and showing them ways to support you and baby during recovery.

How can I support my partner postpartum?

Supporting your partner during postpartum can be done in several ways. Some strategies include helping with household tasks, taking care of baby, offering emotional support, or by encouraging self care.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes, I believe every family deserves access to postpartum care. Payment plans are available for all packages to make support more accessible and stress-free.
