Rooted in a New Season: My Shift to Postpartum Care
Hey y’all, it’s Samantha.
If you’ve been following Southern Grace Doula for a while, you may have noticed a few quiet changes around here. After a lot of prayer, reflection, and deep conversations with God, I’ve decided to fully transition my business into postpartum care only beginning in 2026.
This decision didn’t come easily, but it came from a place of peace and purpose.
Listening to God’s Timing
When I started, birth work was the heartbeat of my calling. Pregnancy and birth has taught me so much about strength, surrender, and the beauty of God’s design. But as my own family has grown and life has shifted, I’ve felt the Lord gently leading me into a new season.
With my kids now in school, our family rhythms have changed. The unpredictable nature of being on call for births no longer fits the life God has placed in front of me right now. And that’s okay. There’s something freeing about trusting His timing and allowing your calling to evolve as you do.
Finding Purpose in the Postpartum Season
While my roots began in birth work, my heart has always been drawn to what comes after. Those tender first weeks of postpartum are sacred. They’re raw and real and holy all at once.
I know firsthand how that season can feel both beautiful and overwhelming. Your body is healing, your emotions are shifting, and you’re learning your baby while trying to find yourself again. Through my own experiences — from homebirth to cesarean to postpartum recovery — I’ve come to believe this:
Mamas need care after the baby comes just as much as they do before.
That’s where I feel called to serve right now.
What This Change Means
Starting in 2026, Southern Grace Doula will focus entirely on faith-based postpartum care for families in Spartanburg County and surrounding areas.
My services will center around:
•Hourly postpartum support for daytime, evening, and overnight care
•Personalized packages designed to meet each family’s needs
•Faith-centered encouragement through prayer, presence, and gentle care
Whether it’s extra hands for household help, guidance with newborn care, or simply someone to sit beside you while you rest and breathe, my goal is to create a peaceful space where you feel seen, supported, and strengthened.
A Season of Rediscovery
This shift has reminded me that every season of life has a purpose. After years of homeschooling, my kids are now in school, and I’m learning who I am in this new rhythm. I’ve found comfort in quiet mornings, good books, and coffee that’s actually still hot.
In many ways, postpartum care mirrors that same rediscovery. It’s a sacred time to rest, heal, and remember who you are beyond the endless to-dos.
I believe God designed us to need both rest and community, and I want to be that reminder for mothers who feel stretched thin or unseen.
Rooted in Grace
As I step fully into this next chapter, my prayer is that Southern Grace Doula continues to be a space filled with peace, presence, and purpose. A space where mamas can feel cared for in both body and spirit.
Because no matter what your story looks like, you deserve support that’s gentle, intentional, and grace-filled.
Here’s to new beginnings, quiet strength, and staying rooted in grace.
With love,
Samantha
